EXPLANATION OF BY-LAW PROPOSALS:

Two proposals have been submitted by member clubs for a vote, addressing limits on entries at the 2026 Master National Retriever Club (MNRC) event and potential limitations at future events.

Through no fault of anyone, the annual MNRC event has expanded significantly since its national debut in 1991. Due to this substantial growth, organizers face an increasing challenge in locating adequate grounds and infrastructure to support large numbers of dogs, participants, and spectators.

On July 17, 2025, the Board of Directors announced that the 2026 MNRC event in Roseburg, Oregon would be limited to 840 dogs.

The following by-law proposals have been submitted by member clubs in response to the Board of Directors’ actions:

1. Site Selection

Site selection to host the Master National event must be able to accommodate all qualified dogs.

**NOTE: The North Alabama proposal adds language to the by-laws requiring sites to provide sufficient grounds, support, and infrastructure to accommodate all qualified dogs. Entries will not be limited.

2. Regional Realignment and Site Selection

Merge the West Central (Region 3) and Pacific (Region 4) into one region, and add language stating the site must be able to accommodate all qualified dogs.

**NOTE: The Missouri Valley HC proposal combines Regions 3 and 4 into a single region. Through no fault of their own, the current Pacific Region (Region 4) has very limited locations capable of hosting all qualified entries. This is evidenced by the fact that, including the 2026 MN event, the event will have been held in Roseburg three times in nine years.

OTHER NOTABLE INFORMATION:

EACH OF THESE PROPOSALS STANDS ON THEIR OWN FOR A VOTE; THIS IS NOT AN EITHER/OR CHOICE. PLEASE VOTE FOR BOTH PROPOSALS.

Member club presidents and delegates of record should have received an email ballot from the MNRC Secretary on Sept. 20, 2025.

Ballots may be returned to the MNRC Secretary via two remaining methods:
A) Email to the MNRC Secretary
B) Hand-delivered to the MNRC Secretary prior to the start of the annual meeting in Giddings, TX, on Oct. 30, 2025.
